Medication Administration

Safe administration of medication, oral, topical, eye drops. For specially trained carers they are able to administer rescue medication e.g. buccal midazolam and check vital signs if needed e.g. blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar for diabetic clients. Check medication is congruent to what is written on prescription, that the name on the MAR sheet is the same with the individual they are administering to, also it is in date, stored appropriately. The carers gain consent before they administer medication to service users. The service users have a right to refuse medication.
